Stir up a little Upcycle

Hello Upcyclers. I found this ottoman recently and decided to give it a facelift.  It is nice and study but had some seriously ugly fabric.  Once I got into it I found something that made me laugh out loud.  Read on.

I decided to upgrade the fabric and paint the legs.  Once I got the legs off I noticed that the black mesh on the bottom was ripped. So I removed it and look what I found:

What the...??

What the...??

At some point in this ottoman's life, someone had shored up the support using 2 Wooden Spoons. That's a first. I tested it out in the store before I bought it but did not anticipate this method of support.  Clearly I was not going to go forward like this so I replaced the kitchen implements with some wood and kept on going.

It was a bit of a challenge to fold all the fabric around the corners in an appealing way but I am really happy with the way it turned out.
